Car Seats

Florida State Law requires the use of a car seat every time the baby is in the car, even when taking the baby home for the first time.  Drive safely and remember that you have a precious "cargo" in the car.  Place the car seat in the center of the back seat facing backwards .  Remember, you yourself should always use a seat belt. Babies must face backwards in the center of the back seat until 12 months of age and 20 pounds.

Children always beyond age 12 months should be in a restraint until 80 pounds ideally. The child can be in higher backed booster seat with 5 point restraint till 40 pounds and then should be lap belted until 80 pounds. Always have the child sit in the back seat until age 12 years and 100 pounds.
