Diaper Area
Diaper rash is due to urine or stool irritating the skin. Change the diapers frequently. Creams and powders are not necessary if the area is kept clean and dry. If a mild irritated area develops, you may try a thin layer of Desitin, A & D Ointment, or any other zinc oxide preparation. If the rash persists, call the office. Diaper wipes can be used on the baby bottom as long as the skin is not broken down; otherwise use soft paper towels or wash cloths to wipe the area.
